Populations of butterflies, bees and other pollinating insects that are critical to the health of our environment have been declining in part due to habitat loss. But helping them is simple if everyone just saves a space for nature. Nature Notices, Skidaway Audubon’s newest project aims to help this special population. Nature-scaping is making front yards – or back yards – nature-friendly, creating a haven where nature can thrive for providing the habitat that pollinators need - leaves that feed the caterpillars that become butterflies, and flowers that provide the butterflies and hummingbirds with nectar.
The Audubon plant sale is part of an island-wide initiative to create havens for pollinators in as many residential yards as possible, to help combat the loss of habitat and help restore pollinator populations. Our pollinator plant sale features 26 kinds of native, perennial plants perfect for a nature scaped garden. Proceeds from the sale will provide funds needed to plant gardens along the golf courses and common areas not only beautifying the areas but making them pollinator happy pathways as well.
If you are member of Friends of Skidaway Audubon you will receive one free milkweed plant with your purchase.
